Yikes! What happened to my myriad lovely literary events? Well, You know what happened.

As this baleful 2021 unfurls, there may be events to report. I hope so. It is the writer’s duty to have hope.

In the meantime, stay well. Read books. Oh yes – and maybe help me. In lockdown I’ve been writing a column for Telegraph Travel called WORDSEARCH. Each column pairs a writer and a place. So far I’ve done:
Kazantzakis’ Crete
Eudora Welty’s Mississippi Delta
Neruda’s Chile
Tete-Michel Kpomassie’s Greenland
James Baldwin’s Harlem

Dorothy Carrington’s Corsica

Coming soon
Dostoevsky’s Petersburg
Ismailov’s Uzbekistan
Nguyen’s Vietnam
Octavia Butler’s LA

Nicolas Bouvier’s Sri Lanka

So come on: use the contact page to make suggestions . . .
